Recognition of Prior Learning

Listed below are the units that make up your qualification. Based on previous learning or occupational competence we may be able to provide you with recognition of prior learner for some of these units so that they are excluded from your course of study. Please view the list of units and select your competency for each.

Value Meaning
0 This is new to me
1 I'm not confident in this area at all
2 I've had some experience of this a long time ago and need more practice
3 I've done this before quite recently but need more practice as still not confident
4 I have recent experience of this and I'm fully confident and competent

If you state that you are fully competent (4), you may not have to complete the unit, but you will be required to upload evidence to support your claim.

Acceptable types of evidence:

  • Certificate showing unit achievement from a UK Awarding Organisation recognised by Ofqual
  • Witness statement from someone qualified to judge competency including details of that person and they date they observed competency.
  • Product evidence that proves competency i.e. something that you have produced (e.g. a cake but could equally apply to a presentation, website, brick wall etc.). Evidence could be audio, video or written. Needs to be current and authentic, you must include proof that it is your work and not someone else's.
